Description & Mechanism
Matrixyl consists of a short pentapeptide sequence covalently modified at the N-terminus with a palmitoyl fatty acid chain. This lipid conjugation increases hydrophobicity and is used in research settings to study peptide–lipid interactions, peptide stability, and extracellular matrix–associated signalling processes in cellular and formulation-based systems.
In experimental models, Matrixyl is utilised as a reference compound for investigating matrikine-related signalling, peptide uptake dynamics, and the behaviour of lipid-modified peptides in dermal or fibroblast-associated research assays.
