Molecular Weight: 576.25 g/mol
Purity: ≥ 99 % (HPLC)
Appearance: White to off-white lyophilised powder
Pack Size: 20 mg (total)
Storage: Desiccated, protected from light, stored at –20 °C or below
Solubility: Soluble in water and buffered aqueous solutions

Description & Mechanism

Pancragen (KEDW / KEDW-NH2) is studied in vitro as a pancreas-directed short-peptide probe. In aged human pancreatic cell cultures it has been reported to increase expression of proliferation markers (Ki-67, PCNA) and matrix metalloproteinases, and to alter apoptosis-associated proteins, used experimentally to study acinar/islet differentiation and cell-renewal signalling.

It functions as a molecular tool for probing transcriptional control of pancreatic endocrine/exocrine differentiation and glucose–insulin axis biomarkers in cellular and preclinical models. Observed effects depend on concentration, model system and exposure conditions; no physiological outcome is implied.

Applications in Research

  • In-vitro study of pancreatic acinar / islet cell differentiation and proliferation/apoptosis markers
  • Preclinical (rodent / aged-primate) models of pancreatic functional decline
  • Investigation of peptide effects on glucose–insulin axis biomarkers in experimental systems
  • Probe for tissue-specific transcriptional regulation

Handling, Reconstitution & Stability

  • Weigh under dry conditions; peptide is hygroscopic
  • Reconstitute in sterile water or appropriate buffered aqueous solution depending on assay requirements
  • Avoid vigorous agitation during dissolution
  • Filter sterilize if required (e.g. 0.22 µm) prior to use
  • Aliquot and store reconstituted solutions at –20 °C or below to minimise degradation
  • Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles

Precautions & Notes

  • Confirm whether the supplied material is the free-acid (KEDW) or amidated (KEDW-NH2) form against the batch CoA; molecular weights differ
  • Experimental behaviour is dependent on concentration, model system and exposure conditions
  • Prolonged exposure to light, elevated temperature or aqueous environments may reduce stability
  • Intended strictly for laboratory research use; not for human or veterinary application
